Life in the rural areas have become a nightmare to many as people struggle to access basic services due to the economic hardships and grueling poverty….. Poor road networks, limited health facilities and schools as well the current financial crisis have become the daily headache for most rural folks.

During menstruation, about 4 days per month can be lost on average, which can add up to 528 days of schooling across the years that a girl should be in school. For poverty stricken families sanitary pads are simply too expensive, inaccessible and beyond their reach; and can receive less priority when compared to other household needs such as food. It is a constitutional responsibility of government to see that girls and boys have equal access to basic health, education and opportunities.From this background, O4Z managed to Speak to Honorable Paurina Mpariwa who is a Member of Parliament and Vice Chairperson of the Women's Parliamentary Caucus on her position and that of the government towards the provision of menstrual health products for vulnerable school going girls.
The government of Zimbabwe is considering placing a ban on the sale of alcohol during weekdays, and at certain times. A cabinet committee has approved a draft policy outlawing the sale of alcoholic products during certain days, hours, and to pregnant women. Members of the public reacts... to them it's misplaced given the critical challenges the country is currently facing.
Homeless, always by street corners begging for food, money and other valuables, the life of young people living on the streets is a nightmare.Futureless their life is, these young people have earned all sorts of names from members of the public. Abuse of all kinds from the police, contempt by members of the public hunger among other problems is what keep them going……… They find solace in illicit drugs…….. and sometimes unsafe sex.
