STORIFY: @ZecZim to Start BVR...Rubbishes RG's Claims
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission is set to kick start the much awaited biometric voter registration as the nation warms up to the 2018 harmonised elections. The registration which is the first of its kind in Zimbabwe will see the production of a new voter’s roll, which all along was the bone of contention among the opposition political parties alleging that the Registrar General, Tobaiwa Mudede had tempered with it to allow the ruling party’s successive victories in the election.
The voter registration exercise which will be mobile will see everyone willing to vote registering despite being registered before. Biometric features such as finger prints among others will be capture. However, the registrar shocked the nation as he interfered with the ZEC’s process announcing that those with metal identity cards might be able to register as voters as metal id cards cant capture biometrics. People took to social media to register their disgust over Mr Mudede’s remarks and call upon the responsible authorities to arrest him for misleading the nation.
