Kenya is supposed to hold yet another elections on the 17th of October 2017 after the country’s Supreme Court nullified the August election citing a lot of irregularities in the manner the plebiscite was conducted, becoming the second country on the continent to have its election outcome overturned by the courts.

The importance of the youth as the present and future of the African continent and any other part of the world has long been identified with policies, charters, constitutions, ministries, departments, trusts and organizations being established for the purposes of developing the youth for leadership roles. The role of young people in development discourses has been emphasized by local political leadership, institutions and the global community. With the United Nations’ Sustainable Development goals valuing the role of young people in their achievement, the African Union’s Agenda 2063 has also put faith in women and youth for it to be inclusive, sustainable and achievable.
Last week there was an uproar on social media over the escalating child prostitution in the informal settlements of Caledonia, Hopley Farm, Epworth and Hatcliffe where young girls, young as nine are selling their bodies for survival. This came after a local organisation, Kwatswe Sisterhood exposed a nine (9) year old girl, running by a pseudonym Lady B, who’s involved in prostitution.
