Zimbabwe: Democracy protection agencies

The following agencies, along with the Zimbabwe Gender Commission, are task with protecting democracy in Zimbabwe (Constitution 2013, Article 232).
- The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission ensures that elections and referendums are conducted efficiently, freely, fairly, transparently and in accordance with the law.
- The Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission is tasked to promote protection, development and attainment of human rights and freedoms, awareness and respect of human rights, receive and consider complaints from public and take action and investigate abuse of power and declaration of rights by authority. The Office of the Public Protector (Ombudsman) has been abolished and its activities transfered to the Human Rights Commission.
- The National Peace and Reconciliation Commission is tasked to ensure post-conflict justice, healing and reconciliation, develop and implement programmes to promote national healing, unity, cohesion and peaceful resolution of disputes, bring national reconciliation.
